Warning: Spoilers ahead!

First of all, OMG this was a fun/amazing/entertaining read. I sped through this so fast once the creepy plot kicked in. I cringed, I laughed, I gasped in horror, I exclaimed out loud and read a few quotes from the book to my boyfriend. This is a story that every person who has worked in retail can relate to, well the beginning at least; I hope to God no one has experienced what happened from page 43 and onwards.

This was so refreshingly funny and clever that I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I started the book. Set in an all too familiar retail chain store, we are quickly introduced to the main characters of the book and introduced to Orsk’s dizzying store layout, its employee uniforms, and its “inspirational” corporate babble conducted by the resentful and very hilarious Amy to a group of newbies. Everything that is mentioned are things people who have worked in retail hear on a daily basis, particularly during the brain washing period where managers attempt to sway employees into believing they’re working for the best. It’s something I’ve experienced working for large retail brands: being shut in a room watching mind numbing videos on how the company gives third world workers the glorious opportunity to pave a way for themselves to become shiny bright superstars (not naming names here in case they come after me with fire and pitchforks).
