At last! I was anticipating the next book after reading My Lady Jane so this one was a high priority on my TBR list. I love, love, LOVE THIS BOOK. This has everything I love in it: beautiful and lyrical writing, an accurate representation of Taiwanese culture, wonderful characters who develop and mature through the novel, a slow burning romance that does not take away the grief and identity of our protagonist, and I could go on, which I will in this review.

So far, I can think of one novel that does a good job at it, but it doesn’t excel at it nearly as much as Emily X.R. Pan’s debut novel. WHERE HAS THIS BOOK BEEN ALL MY LIFE? It’s safe to say I could not put this book down for many reasons.

I started out my winter holidays right by picking up this ARC (thank you so much Harper Collins for sending it!)

I had a hard time putting Everless down and that’s something that doesn’t happen often. When I was busy with other things, all I could think about was this damn book. I was actually speeding errands along just so I could find out what happens next.
